in 2005 the town of ‘phil campbell’ was discovered after a drunken awards. we were in san francisco picking up video blogging awards at the vloggies. the next morning we decided to google ourselves to make sure we didn’t make the paper, or world wide web, for doing anything stupid the night before. i mean not that we would of course, but everyone should do it daily. the first link that appeared was from the site wikipedia regarding the town, only four miles wide with 1000 residents. it was at this point phil added to his life bucket list.
six years passed until 2011 and the announcement of a 100 year birthday party for the town, pulling together as many phil campbells from around the world. however, only two weeks before the event, an ef5 200+mph tornado ripped past the town destroying 40% of the town and killing 27.
twenty minutes after hearing this news on facebook the event was turned into a relief effort. we went to phil campbell, as a collective to help rebuild phil campbell. we’re determined to make it back there.
no time like the present they say. trees snapped like twigs, families broken and a constant reminder of the world and our place within it. telling other peoples’ stories is at the heart of what we do. we raised awareness by social media and our networks. we even spoke to major news outlets including a live phone in via sky news in the uk.
nineteen phils and one phyllis campbell made the journey to help the town of phil campbell in 2011. we wish the town the best.
architects journal
the renovated £80 million pound five star langham hotel, located in the centre of london, was to be the setting of the architect journals live stream. planned and scheduled by caron lyon with assistance from phil campbell (me.dm) and creative io, we were on-site for two days (one for reccy and prep) to stream live our video output to the web for others to watch remotely.

backstory
like the beginning of a romance novel, so does our story start. six months free rent space on the second floor of a hot, noisy 18th century office in the heart of the lace market creative quarter district of nottingham.
oddly, the building had fibre optic internet connectivity and thus fibrecamp (now called cellar54) was born. experimental in nature, the studio is aimed at a creative workspace for social media discussion and content creation – a one stop media shop for web masters and those needing video assets.
fast forward to 2012 and the studio has taken many turns in the last twelve months from an empty space to fleshing out to be a basic web studio.
production schedules are now in place for weekly content creation for businesses. much of our company’s growth has been going into presentation, video quality and set arrangement.

Caron ‘cogmonster’ Lyon
scheduling genius expert and exacting mission critical thinker, caron is the pulse of pcmcreative. a social media practitioner based in the lace market of nottingham, she also regularly commutes between london and nottingham for project work and on the ground activity. interested in community building, empowerment and noodles.
Phil ‘dmouse’ Campbell
early start pro amateur videoblogger turned entrepreneurial spirited. aiming to constantly question the balance between success and failure and the journey to each destination. capricorn. stroppy and broken hearted but still in attack formation. loves his daughter bella chella bon bon very much.
the above team started with a simple tweet that fibre internet connectivity had been installed at lace market house. the rest was history. proving the theory that wherever you install low latency, fast internet connectivity geeks will come. phil started working alongside pcmcreative building a collaborative effort in the shape of pcmprojects. then later the project fibrecamp with the intention of building popup social media studios in empty disused spaces. IT geeks would not only think of this as genius, but as upcycling.
